Hi, I’m Kerry Skemp, a graduate student in publishing and writing at Emerson College. I write about music for AltMusic.About.com and Performer Magazine and edit the books section of Bostonist.com. I have also written for Austinist.com, The Onion, and several other publications. Originally from Wisconsin, I earned my B.A. in English from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where I wrote my senior thesis on Vladimir Nabokov’s Pale Fire and joined Reed’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. I’ve worked at several publishing houses including Timber Press, Collectors Press, and Beacon Press. and worked for the remarkable Apple. Before moving to Boston to attend Emerson, I lived in Austin, Texas, where I wrote web content for Vertive, Inc., and worked as a copyeditor at The University of Texas Press. This site features several examples of my work. I’d love to hear from you about any writing or other projects.
